Appalachian Trail starting in GA

Thinking about riding the Appalachian Trail starting in GA + getting off about halfway into NC and ending in Ashville, NC. Riding a cross bike and my buddy amt bike. Anyone know ANYTHING about something like this? Hints , tips, done it before? Iíve never have, so looking for good info.

Volunteers put in massive amounts of time keeping the AT open, Maine, to Georgia.

Feel free to make your own.

However, backpacking even sections of the trail is a magnificent experience.

Try it.

I'd suggest the White Mountain Nat Forest to Rangely for a rugged hike.

Or Rangeley to Katahdin for more of a wilderness experience.

I encountered a similar downer when I was thinking of doing an epic ride with my then-teenage son on the Pacific Crest Trail. Oops, also hiking (well, and damn hay-burners) only.

Still have my sights set on someday doing the Idaho Centennial Trail (the north-south one), though.

Once he got into the GSMNP, too many people hike it in the summer to where they would tell the rangers
