he wasn't following closely, just getting ready to pass. what would you do, slow down and ruin your ride for fear of getting too close to terminatrix? the less capable rider, gender aside, was probably maxing out on stress management due to the addition of a few tree roots across the trail. based on attire obviously quite concerned with the hazards of riding. aggressive act of throwing bike after slamming on brakes? surpassed in hilarity only by feigning injury. pathetic!! ah, pity pity.

have you ever ridden singletrack with a bunch, a few riders behind you? ever consider riding etiquette, not to mention common sense? why in the world would you slam on your brakes in the middle of a trail? I can answer that: complete self-absorption and lack of situational awareness due to excessive task management issues. ok I agree the great cinematographer could have been more cautious when getting closer and ready to pass. however the spastic weakly thrown temper tantrum? the brat could have been charged with assault.

i think the male reaction in this case when you were rear ended is to be pissed off for 5sec, then realize why it happened.. then maybe still have pent up energy and still be pissed for another 5sec... realize the bike is fine... then check your own body... everything checks... dust your self off...

look over and give a "thumbs up" or "i'm ok" and then get right back on the bike and keep having fun and or maybe try to race the "rammer" - catch up at the end of the trail get a name and have a beer and a laugh...

this would also likely happen if you still escalated with a fist fight... because after the fight guys still become buddies or at the very least just let things go immediately after...

I can almost guarantee she milked that drama for days...

When I run up on slower riders on the trail I frequently pull off the trail and take a break, commune with nature. If I'm gonna pass them I let them know. I'm always ready for people I don't know to do the exact wrong thing when I interact with them. Stopping in the middle of the trail is a classic MUP move! I try to avoid those too. Passing people on them is like Russian Roulette. A lot of muppets need a good 6' berth.

Same thing when I'm having fun in the car on twisty roads and I run up on an RV, I'll pull off next chance and wait for a long break in traffic so I can stretch my legs. If I wanna go fast I don't breath down peoples necks. I give 'em room and if I have to wait for a chance to let it run.

I've only ridden resort action once and it was a race, however.

AND, I don't think that was a good section of trail to be attempting to pass two riders that he doesn't know - if that's what he had in mind.

All I have to say is that I love the music queuing after the accident, brilliant! I think some of us would have a similar flip out if we just put on a new shiny rear derailleur and it got damaged from a rear end like this, causing us to ride all the way back on the smallest cog. The woman actually did more damage to her bike by throwing it down than the actual hit itself.

In the motorcycle world, no one would ever ask why the person in front hit their brakes or stopped in the middle of a trail. You are always at fault if you rear end someone. In this case though, the front rider wasn't up to par for the activity she was performing which I cannot stand either - get out the way!

Uh...that's the normal female reaction too. Throwing the bike is in no way a normal female reaction, or a normal reaction for anyone, for that matter. That girl was a freaking nutcase. She's lucky the guy was as nice as he was, because if she threw a bike at me, there's no way I'd have been that nice to her.

I had a guy rear-end my car once, and after giving me his insurance information, try to ask me out. Not going to lie...I kind of wanted to throw something at him for that timing. Didn't though.

yeah the music back on and continuing to carve up the trail, restored my faith in our youth. I'll admit I was worried up to that point.

We've got "Fleet Week" here and on the Bike Path there was a lot of barricades and cops this morning. So a cute little female, who put me in mind of this one, passed me, got right in front of me, and I - flashing on this Vid - I was already braking.

Sho 'nuff. She passed me, suddenly realized there was too little bike path in play, not only hit her brakes but dragged one foot on the pavement. My normal reaction, when a cute chick passes me, would've been to speed up. That would've nailed her for sure.

Why are they dressed for downhill, but riding x-c trails?

Helmet cam always 'flattens' the terrain. They are ski-resort DH trails in Colorado I believe.
