Lock on Grips

Hey everyone i was thinking of upgrading my grips. I was looking at the Lock on style grip. The reason i am thinking of upgrading is my grips are starting to develop sort of a throttle grip to them. any suggestions of brands or ways to stop throttle grip from happening ********** i kinda like these

Are you saying that they're twisting on the bar rather than being stuck in one place? If so, the way to stop it is to pull them off and apply a bit of watered down dish soap solution to the bar, then slide them back on while it's still wet. When it dries, they won't move. When you need to get them off again, get them wet and work the water down into the grip and they'll twist right off.

If you do need a grip change, I love my Ergon GP1 grips. They're super comfy all day with the way they're contoured to your hand and provide plenty of grip. They also lock onto the bar, so they're not going anywhere.

Dish soap?

I've always used hairspray

You can also go SUPERGLUE

If want new grips, Either get the conformed ones like gp1s and they will be nice as long as you don't have gripshifters. They get in the way for me.

I would go to a LBS to look around because some grips with lockrings on them are not stiff so the grip still twists.

Also, work on your grip and raise your wrist

Probably sweat or oil under the grip, remove and then clean them and the bar with rubbing alcohol.

odi grips work well also.

You got a buddy who rides MX? If so ask if he's got some grip wire and pliers. That'll stop the spinning grips for sure and be on the cheap (may cost you a beer or two for your MX buddy). Barring that, get the ODI lock-ons.

I agree! hairspray works great! its always fun trying to peal them off when its time to switch them out.

Yup. The dish soap/water mix grips just as well as the hair spray, but when it's time to get them off you just lift an edge of the grip up and work a little water under it and it'll twist right off. It can be a tiny bit of a problem if you've got a bike that you leave outside in the elements all the time, but otherwise it's a perfect grip gripper.

Just get the ODI Lock-ons. There are many ways to get standard grips to stay put but why mess with it? Lock-ons are THE way to go.

Keep in mind that other companies like Sunline make very good locking grips too.

yeah i actually thought of doing that but I dont always ride with gloves, and my grips dont have groves for it so i would have to deal with a wire poking and irritating me. I kinda like the look of those Sunline Lock-ons i think im gonna go with one from them.

get some ODIs they will take care of the problem. I run em on my atv and both my mtbs and love them. They also have a couple of different styles to choose from varying in grip pattern and thickness.

If you have specific questions about any particular Sunlines, feel free to ask. I've had them all (well, except the twisted waffle) and can give you diameters for comparison and a few specific insights.

ODI rouges are what i will be getting soon becouse i love the feel of them when i borrowed my friends bike. I have large hands though so that may be why i like how beefy they are.

Larger grips are better for pressure on your nerves.
