Grungy water bottle

After my last ride which involved riding through some really nasty smelling water, I reached for my Gatorade, which was in my cage, the smell and grunge on the bottle made me want to puke.

Good thing I have a camelbak.. But the gatorade would have been nice since I was in need of the extras.

Just curious what can be done to keep the grunge off my water bottle while riding ?

Well, you could always use the Pcad 'water bottle condom' method :

Fenders. Aside from that, don't ride through horse/cow patties or mud. Clean off the top of your watter bottle before you take a drink.

As previously stated camelbaks are your friend.
