Haro escape 8

I have been riding bicycles for about two months now. Up until the other day i have been riding a walmart mongoose. A friend is selling a Haro escape 8, he said it was a 2008 but we are not too sure on how much he should sell the bike for. I haven't gotten a chance to look at it yet. I was just wondering if anyone could give me a price range. If all goes well ill have some pictures up of it. Once again thanks again guys.

Here's the deal...I don't think they made a Haro Escape "8" in 2008. From 2007-on, they were labeled Escape "Comp", "Sport", etc...

I can't find anything on the '06, so if you're sure it's an Escape"8", then it's probably a 2005 or previous. Could very well have been a 2005 that was sold to your bud as a new bike in '08. I've seen that before from shady dealers.

Either way, it was a good frame with a crappy component build except for the 8.3. The 8.3 in 2005 had a better build than the .2 and .1 though. MSRP on the .1 was 6 bills. I don't know about the .3, but I'd guess it was in the 1k range.

I'd say if it's in good shape, 300 is fair given 6 years of depreciation, obsolete componentry, crappy fork from the get-go, and wear and tear.

Go to bikepedia.com and check out the Haro Escape models. Look at the build kit they used. The .3 is noticeably better. The fork sucked on all of them, but it was different on each. They ran in descending order: Manitou Stance, Marz MX, and SR Suntour.
