Axle switch?
 

I was wondering if a fork with regular quick release can take just an axle with nuts and spacers on the ends? for example...a fork like a z1 drop off, can i just get a hub with 20mm axle and just bolt it on? no quick release at all.

20mm is too large. You need one that is either 10mm (bmx style nuts) or 9mm (qr)...20mm is not an option unless it is hope or hadley, then you have to pay for the conversion kit to make it a standard size axle.

Here's a non-quick release skewer that will fit standard forks and hubs..it just bolts on:

no i was thinking just an axle with nuts, pretty much the same thing as on a bmx.
i'm just looking at my options. will be getting a new fork and will be most likely upgrading the hub, i was just wondering if i could have the axle bmx style, with a 10mm axle??
i want something stiff, for all around trail fr dh dj

then if you are going to upgrade you front fork for that you might as well go with the 20mm axle talk about stiffness and just killer in general im not really woried about hurting my 20mm thru axel its a solid cnc'd axel

Ok, in that case I'd definitely go with the 20mm axle. It's pretty much the industry standard for a stiff, strong setup. Most of the new forks in the DH/FR category use that anyway so I guess that will pretty much make the decision.
