Front end upgrades....

I'm going to be upgrading a lot on the front end of my 04 haro x1 this winter. i was looking for suggestions/input.
First, i'm going to upgrade the fork to something with QR20 or a 20mm thru-axle. I have Alex dm18 rims, and will have to upgrade the hub. What are your hub recommendations? I'm not too familiar with MTB hubs, do they come with the 20mm axle already, and how do they work with being qr20 or thru?
and whats it like to change a hub, dealing with the spokes and such?
thats enough questions for now, just pretty much looking for a new hub and wondering how it is to change.
thanks!

well thers plenty of good hubs, i used this one that said DT swiss Hayes and it worked well. replacing a hub means rebuilding your wheels and most likely buying new spokes unless your very lucky.

I know you said you wanted to go 20mm but just wanted to drop you a line. I changed my X2 fork this summer to a Fox vanilla, made a super change in the bike. It handles sooo much better than with the stock fork. You did'nt say how big you would be going so this may not be an option. Good luck with it.

He also didn't say what forks exactly he was looking at. Some forks only work with the 20mm thru axle type. I know most of the DH forks are 20mm TA type forks... as is the Marzocchi shiver.
