Plan to build a fixed mountain bike, I am very old school, (hate that term...) I am looking for advice on what is a good frame from say the '80s to use to build a fixie....

I'd probably go with something from the 80s with horizontal dropouts just to get around having to use eccentric BB/chain tensioner/magic ratio.
I think the Stumpjumpers went vertical in 1985. Diamondback Ascent was still running horizontal up to 1988 I think. Quite a few others to choose from from back then.

GT timberlines were horizontal for 86 and 87. My 88 Outpost was vertical so I reckon the Timberline was then also.
This one's for sale for $450. Unfortunately not triple triangle. But fortunately CHROME! Dropouts on the short side but give you a little wiggle room.
