Need to upgrade

hey guys ...

new here .. i have a bike which has RST 180 front fork .. i was wondering if i could put disk brakes on it .. and what would you guys recommend for winter riding on it .. to protect against salt and stuff like that ... any tips for a beginer would be great ..

first, does it have disc mounts on the fork, 2nd you need a disc capable hub with mounting holes in it. IF so the best mechanical disc is avid

it does not have the mounts on the fork .. does that mean its not possible to upgrade?

well unless you wanted to get a new fork. does it have mounts on the frame?

You need a disc-capatable fork and disc-ready hubs and rims. All I can think of for winter advice is maybe a fender if you're going to be riding around campus and such.

i think that i am gonna build on this frame ... as it is aluminum and very light .. now i am looking for some forks around 100 bucks and must have the holes on for the disk breaks .. any suggestions

you can buy a decent used for for that price, what kind of riding do you want to do

ebay to start with.. you won't get much for $100 to be perfectly honest. I'd say $200 would be minimum for a decent 80mm travel disc-capable fork. The Marzocchi MX Comp is a good place to start. You can also find a Judy TT or a Judy XC for next to nothing now too. As a matter of fact, here's a Judy XC for $99.98 It should do you just fine... No clue how long this price will be good for, though.

as far as keeping salt and other such nasties off your bike, wax it.. no joke, go to wal-mart, buy some car wax and wax the hell outta your bike. It'll keep a lot of it from sticking and the stuff that does stick will be easier to wash off.
