Recommendations for Protecting Chain Stay?

I've seen old rubber tubes wrapped around the chain stay, I've been told to go to the local car window tint shop and get a scrap of window tint and apply that to the chain stay. Any other ideas/recommendations?

Who told you to use window tinting? That's only good for... tinting windows. Don't think it's protect the chainstay from a slapping chain very well.

Old tube, hockey grip tape or handlebar wrap will do a better job.

I personally use frame wrap. Google it. It's the schiznit.

Specialized also sells several offerings of chainstay protector sleeves from custom to universal. I personally like the older velcro ones because you can quickly remove them to clean the mud off them separately while cleaning your bike.

No need to buy anything. Old tube and electrical tape = golden.

I used old tubes with zip-ties but found I had to replace the tubes too often (for my liking) due to perishing.
I ended up buying this Cannondale Protector from my local MTB shop and it's showing no signs of wear after a year.

EDIT, just saw 1nterceptor's link, that's cheap. Mine was a "little" more expensive than that.
Go for his.
