Which Freeride Bike? ? ? ?

I'm quite new to mountain biking but i have been looking for a good, well built freeride bike. I only have a budget of 750. Can anyone recconmend anything? I have been looking at the Cannondale bikes, they seem very dear but i really like them what do you think? Please let me know what you think.

Rick

That's about $1,400 USD.

With that budget you need to consider the Used market. ANY decent Freeride bike will easily top the $2,000 USD mark.(1000 to 1100 GBP)

Closeouts as well. Iron Horse Bikes are a great value.

Specialized Big Hits are Superb Freeride bikes.

There are tonnes others.

Mate with 750quid you get nothing in the UK market... end of story....

What you could get are:

Enduro SX frame 500quid
Bighit DH frame 600quid
Transition Preston 700quid
Transition Dirtbag 700quid (750quid for 7" version)
Craftworks FRM125 750quid

These are frame only solutions.

I would never buy cannondale for a FR/DH bike... period.

Good luck bro.

You could get a K2 Tirade for that much new....03' or 04', depends on the model though. 5inches front and back for the low end one that can be had for $1150 new....and the frame is very built.

You MAY be able to pic up a reasonably HT freeride rig for that if you were looking, i worked out you could built a pretty nice freeride hardtail for 800 - 900, if your really adament on getting a freeride rig, get a used one, or save up a bit more money...

Hahaha

Yes i am back, unfortunately i wasnt participating a lot recently, and i do apologise for that.

Yea i bore mael now with stratocasters etc.... well at least he is not listening about 150 and 130mm debates ....

ahhhh the good old times when we were talking only about cranksets .

For the bike...

Santacruz Chameleon (350quid), Z1FR3 forks (270quid) and try to bodge the rest for 300quid

Or get a DMR switchback frame and the above setup....

For FS... you need 700 for the frame alone....

We dont know yet...

But if the UK dristributor decides to see IH like SantaCruz or Intense... expect 2500$++

You could get a Haro X2 (X1 or X3 i cant remember) for 750quid. That is a fully fledged FR bike (lightFR) like a heckler basically (identical). Now that the heckler is made in taiwan, i dont see any advantage for the heckler over the Haro....

MBUK was raving about how much value that Haro bike had....if you want an FS then the HARO is your only option...given a budget of around 700-900 ballpark...
