Ideas for finding old shock parts?

I'm rebuilding my old hardtail into a singlespeed/beater bike and want to minimize costs. Most of the parts are serviceable with minor changes (cables, pulleys, pads, etc.) with the exception of the fork.

The fork, a classic Rock Shox Mag 21, has a completely broken brace (the black, u-shaped piece that connects the sliders). It would be easy enough to buy an old used fork to replace it but there's another issue: the bike has a 1 1/4" head tube. I have had no luck finding a 1 1/4" used fork. I could use an adapter and new headset to reduce down to a 1 1/8" but then I'm throwing in more money than I want to spend (adapter, headset, fork). I'd really just like to replace the brace and rebuild it.

Any ideas where I can round up a replacement brace OR get a smokin' deal on an old 1 1/4" fork?

Thanks in advance

PS. Posted this in the mechanics section as well. not sure where it belongs.

try www.pinkbike.com & browse the buy&sell section... if you don't find what you want, you can post a wanted-ad on pinkbike.com
