Jamis XLT 1.0

I have the opportunity to buy an '04 Jamis XLT 1.0, CHEAP. Does anyone own on of these or have any experience this them, good or bad? I looked at the Jamis website but they only have info on the new '05 models, Thanks!

One of my friends has an older ('98 I think) Dakar sport that he liked quite a bit when it was his main bike. The Dakar has gotten consistently positive reviews for quite a few years, but then Jamis decided not to buy into the Horst link patent anymore. This meant they had to change the position of one of the pivots in the rear to a position that isn't as good at reducing pedal bob or brake jack. I haven't seen any reviews of the Dakar XLT's after that change, but I know they were well liked before. I would wager that it is still a good bike for the price. I'm pretty sure there are no significant changes between the '04 and the '05 so if you can get one cheap, it's probably worth it.

It looks like a good bike just from the components. If the price is right, I say go for it.

Is it just me or does the new Jamis rear suspension design look like the Rocky Mountain's 3D-link??
