what is the difference between 1st version and 2nd B01S resin pads?

I'm planning on buying spare brake pads for my '09 GF Tassajara with Shimano M486, hydraulic disc, 160mm CenterLock rotors and the stock pads are Shimano resin B01S. There is a 1st version, as well as a 2nd version. Can someone please tell me what the differences are between the two?

this was such a strange and interesting question, i called up shimano and asked just to find out the answer. according to shimano, functionally, there is no difference. the only difference is the backing, one version may be aluminum, one version may be a different compound.

no difference. ride your bike and don't worry about these things.
