Help identifying a bunch of forks?
I saw this post on Kijiji recently:
http://winnipeg.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-...AdIdZ327190974 In short, someone is selling ten suspension forks. The only information he gives is that they say "K2", "Rhino HWL-998", and "70 mm travel" on them. They don't look particularly fancy. Google turned up nothing. HOWEVER, because they are selling for $50 for all of them, I'm considering buying the lot, keeping a couple as replacements for some of my beaters, and donating the rest to the local bike co-op (I don't really want to store ten forks). Does anybody know what these mysterious forks are (that is, whether they're really awful, or just not particularly good), and if this many of them would merit a longish drive out of town? This is certainly one of the stranger bike ads I've seen lately. |
I'm sure they are worth every penny @ $5 each.
I do like the donation idea. |
I don't know if this will help in your search at all, but I Think rhino Might refer to a brand of MTBs from the late 90s. No idea if I'm even close to right, though. A quick search might solve that mystery.

I'd buy them and donate them to the Topeka Cycle Project. (my old home town) I took a rubbermaid tub full of used parts down there. They build bikes and give 'em away. They sell a few...only enough to cover the rent. All tools were donated. They pull bikes out of the dump, dumpsters, whatever. Strip'em down, clean them up.
If you put in 20hrs of time, you can build yourself a bike to take home. |
The look kinda like 1" steerers to me, if that matters to ya.

Contact K2, someone there might know something about them:

I just perused the Web site. Nothing about forks. I'll probably just buy them (despite a bit of a drive) and see how they are. I have spent much more on frivolous bike purchases before.
