Is this bike any good?

Hi,
Is this Bike any good? It's a Klein Fervor bike. It's an older used one...like early 90's. (Still in good shape, only scratches)
The components are:

LX Deraillers back and front, XT head set, Zoom comp Stem, Carbon Fiber Black Magic bars,Scott composite breaks, Onza Clipless pedals, Wheel Smith rear wheel with xt Cassette, Specialized cranks med quality. The front suspension is a Specialized Air Oil shock. It weighs about 25 lbs.

The guy is selling for less than $400.

Is this a good deal? or should I wait for something else to come up?

Well, the people at MTBR seemed to like the frame:

If it indeed has a 1" headset be warned that replacement forks are somewhat difficult to come by (I'd be surprised if the fork isn't on it's 'last legs' by now). Of course you won't have any warranty on the frame, which you should inspect carefully for cracks. Also, the components may have quite a bit of wear on them, so it could prove to be a money pit - you should check everything out. If you can't, bring someone who can or have it checked at a shop before purchase. Depending on the year, that's either too much or way too much money to be asking - the owner probably remembers paying through the teeth for it and is letting nostalgia affect the asking price.

Then again, if you are happy with what you get for what you spend that's what is important.

Marzocchi is still making forks with a 1" steerer tube, but they'll cost you about as much as the Klein will cost!

I'd forget it and get something newer. I've seen a ton of bike, on eBay going for under $400.

Hi there,

Early Kleins were great bikes, but make sure you get a good look over the frame before you buy as aluminium is prone to cracking over a long period of hardcore usage.

If it's sound, I'd offer the bloke maybe $300 cash and see what he says.

Cheers

Thanks for all your advise. I'm gonna hold off and wait for something better to come around. Thanks.
