Cables Need Shortening?

I think they look like crap. I also know it's not particularly easy, but I really want to shorten them. Any reason not to? Any advice if I do shorten them? (I'm of course referring to the remote lock-out and the front hydraulic brake.)

TIA

The only reason not to would be if you decide to put a fork with a longer A2C on it. Given the style of bike...I'd say that's probably not going to happen, so you may as well do it. The fork will be quick and easy. The hydro cable will be easy, but take a tad more time. Make sure you have all the compression fittings/hose barb you need before you begin.

Thanks Ed. They sure make a big deal on the exact measurements required to cut the cable in shortening the remote lock out, but I really can't believe it needs to be 0.480" +/- 0.02". Since I need to learn how to bleed the brakes, might as well learn when shortening the brake cable.

As long as you're quick and clean...you may not have to bleed. Just don't touch the lever blade and keep the hose pointed up.
