sedona pics
hope y'all don't mind, i'm posting pics here. i posted the last ride report and pics in the ride report section. just got back from a ride, i'm too tired and lazy to go all the way" over to the ride report section, i'm gonna post pics right here. sorry for my lame ass pics, my friend took cool ones, i will eventually hopefully get to post them.
sedona is riding perfect right now. come down and party and ride with us. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...sedona2004.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...sedona2013.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...sedona2014.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...sedona2020.jpg |
Looks cool! Sedona is on our short list of places to eventually visit for sure.
|
D - you have GOT to come to sedona....even if you dont ride, it's just super beautiful
|
Nice pics, doesn't look like much room for error.
Or passing another bike coming the other way. |
^Isn't that why they call it singletrack?
Awesome pics Pablo, wish I could make it out there! |

They don't, but they're supposed to. All the singletrack trails I've ridden have had directional arrows, or a schedule of which way you're supposed to go on which days.
|
Love the pics
I've never seen a directional singletrack in my area, but I can think of one or two that would be much safer that way. |
Only trail I've been on that was signed for only one direction was Whoops in Bend. Downhill with jumps and stuff.
|
Great pictures. Looks beautiful.
Most of the trails I've ridden are ridden in both directions. Quite a few of them are lollipops too, so there's a section that has to be ridden both ways on one ride. I've been on a couple that were directional...but that's it. |
Love the southwest this time of year. Sedona is like no where else in the world.
|
another pic, from today's ride. it was sunny, but windy and cold, colder than it has been. we had such a great ride, again. i'm wiped out right now, gonna take a day off, recover...
as far as dirctional trails, i've seen a bunch, we have em in fruita. here in sedona, not directional, but it works. tight trails, yeah, but it works. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...81699544_n.jpg |
Hm, interesting. Dauset Trails, Blankets Creek, & the GA International Horse Park are directional for sure, & I'm pretty sure Big Creek & Yellow River are as well. Those are a few of the more popular trails in the Atlanta metro area. Interesting that this seems to be a trait specific to my area
I prefer the system at Blankets Creek the most, which is counter-clockwise Tues, Thurs, & Sat; clockwise Sun, Mon, Wed, Fri. http://www.sorbawoodstock.org/storag...-Trail_Map.pdf I guess the Atlanta area is weird for mountain biking, because we also have a fair amount a MTB-only trails, which I understand is not so common in other places. (again, people don't always follow these rules, but they are there) FWIW, I'd give up the peace of mind of directional trails in a heartbeat for some of the sweet singletrack in Sedona. |
very cool pics. i wanna ride there now
|
today was day 4. today we rode many many hours, for many many miles. weather was beautiful, ride was spectacular. big group ride, ross schnell joined us. we saw joe murray on the trail, it's kinda cool when you are riding around and run into people like joe murray. my. it's so amazing to watch a pro ride, the guy is so damn smooth, he floats and flows, makes it look effortless. i guess that is why he is pro.
my legs are pretty damn spent. supposed to ride tomorrow, i'm not gonna ride tommorrow. i'll post more pics of rides when it happens, if no one minds. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...sedona3011.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...sedona3009.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...sedona3002.jpg and here is ross schnell and his b!tchin mustache.... http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...sedona3007.jpg |
Great pics!! Looks like some nice riding!
|
ok, these are the last pics for now....i'm ending this with pics of me.....seriously, sedona is soooo beautiful, so fun, you should definatly consider this as a "must go" place and come here some day...
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...f6a7ac_b-2.jpg and a pic of me making a dumb face. my face is naturally dumb, for some reason i look even dumber. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...792d83dd_b.jpg |
Stunning scenery, thanks for posting.
Desert riding is my favorite in the universe. What are you doing for tire puncture abatement? |

dminor,
Are those pictures from the infamous Desert 100 that used to be held in Mattawa? If it is, I have raced that race several times, but in different locations. Closer to Vantage, and now Odessa. They still do the old-school desert start of a "bomb run", with up to 1,800 bikes on the starting line. It stretches for over a mile long! I think I got 18th overall back around 2002. |
^^ They are. That's me with the 777 number plate and the Bell Star in both shots. First 100 I did was about 1967 or '68 on an 80cc trail bike . By the '70s, there were two yearly Mattawa 100s: the original Fall race, hosted by the Everett MC; and the Spring one hosted by the Bothell StumpJumpers MC (take that, Mike Sinyard) - - which is what morphed into the Desert 100. I loved those days. Cool to see the tradition carries on.

Awesome pictures. I'm about to get to go down to AZ to ride and only hope it's similar scenery and riding. Glad you had tons of fun.
For what it's worth, all the trails in my area are directional too, in every location I've ridden so far. I'm pretty sure they are at the few locations I haven't ridden too. |
Great pictures. Thanks for sharing.
As for non-directional singletrack, I have neverhad anything to worry about with oncoming riders. I just seems to work itself out. Also, most of the trials I ride on are impassable in the opposite direction. That helps. |
