Better fork, some would say better wheels, some would say worse wheels.
Also paint color...

2005:

Stuff:
Has troublesome brakes : HFX 9's, heard they're terribly annoying sometimes, made for xc. Still more expensive than the ones on the scrap
Fork is a bit better, but I think it's still an OEM fork.
Rims I'm sure are better, because I've just realized that maelstroms set was probably defective or something. The rims really aren't that bad. I've done my share of falling horizontally, and unsmooth drops. Alexs are probably worse.
So basically
Fork
Wheels

I wouldn't say colour. Last year's colour was soo much better (the stuff's). But man I love my buffy red. It's so tough and rugged looking in my opinion. The 2005 paint for the scrap, I must say is better. That colour and those close to it (e.g. 2003 Stuff frame) are amazing nice looking because of the army men colour, and as everyone knows, ARMY MEN ARE TOUGH PEOPLES.

Did i miss it or is the banshee morphine really not in here. Awesome freeride hardtail. It;s wicked heavy though so its more of a downhill/drops/shore oriented frame rather than an urban or street althought i know some dudes that dj on it.

That's certainly a good bike for the list.. The ones that are up so far are in now way 'official' or anything.. just ones that people thought of, and could be linked to.
I'll update that shortly.

I hate it when people say that.

But well done MadMan, good idea for a useful thread.

When there is one BEST frame probably. Especially when it usually isn't. As is the case the the Chameleon. Decent frame but not in the 'best' category ...

I added some frames above. If you can find them these are no long made or new so I can't be bothered finding the sites.

Woodman make 2 or 3
Balfa Minuteman (arguably the first to start this fr ht craze. Unfortunately lost forever)
KHA Rigid one (very xc but works well as an all rounder if you like a big bike. Not many places have these anymore)
GSR Hooligan

The P series are up there, at least some of them..
I'll put the link to the GT in when I find it (it helps if people post links when they mention bikes by the way)

I saw this bike at Supergo, and I think it'd be a good idea to buy it, take off all the parts, sell the frame and back fork, and get a hardtail frame for the same price.

Thoughts?

Actually, I have heard good things about the frame. Not usually one to skimp on frame quality but those seem to get decent reviews.

But if you want a ht, thats a good plan

Yes, I agree, dont know anything about the "weyless" brand, but the components on that bike are mighty tasty!

Im pretty sure the Torrent is over 2000 dollars, and the Sasquatch and Manik were already mentioned. I dont know the price of the Rampage because the Norco site only gives Canadian prices. Unless this thread is reffering to Canadian dollars. woops.

are the prices on the norco site in Canadian dollars, I'm assuming that they are, but some prices seem insanely good value if they are!

It would be much more useful to me if everyone backed up their opinions about 'the best' (or not) with an explanation of 'why'. That would raise the quality of this discussion quite a bit; it's a great topic!

In my pursuit to find the perfect hardtail, I came across Jamis Komodo and the Gary Fisher GED. Both seem to be Freeride/Trail bikes, any reviews ya'll have seen on these? I might try to go ride them after christmas.
