problem with holes

my actual rims have 36 holes which i think is a lot because i was looking for some new rims and they all have 32 holes so are my hubs too old or whats going on here, can i switch for a new 32 hole rim with my old hub with no problem?

36 hole hubs are fairly common... you do need to got 36 to 36 or 32 to 32, can't really fudge on that one.

you'll have to get a 36 hole rim if you plan on re-using your hubs. On the other hand, you can just buy a whole new 32 hole wheelset if you so choose. Unless you're going to build the wheels yourself, you may end up paying more buying a 36 hole rim and spokes and taking it to someone to have it built than you would pay if you were to just buy a whole new pre-built wheelset.

36 hole was the standard years ago. As the emphasis turned to reducing weight, 32 became the accepted norm. If you are a heavier rider, or abusive I'd stick with 36.

However, for the price of a new rim and rebuild you can get a whole new set of wheels. Check out www.pricepoint.com or www.jensonusa.com or www.supergo.com

Those usually offer the best deals on pre-built wheels.
