Fitting a bashguard

Hey guys... I know this is a prety easy question, but this ones different, on my new DMR i have got a solid chainring, no holes at all, i want to fit a bash plate or guard, just to protect the rings... can i drill some holes if i find out exactly where to put them and fit on?

if its a solid ring you should not need a bash ring, there are usually tough enough, unless you want to protect your legs during a bail, you must have 3 piece cranks to not have any bolt holes, look to see how urban trials riders fit their bashrings, they use 3 piece cranks

If it has no holes, how does it attach to the crank arm?
