Good work, I remember the days of me and a mate building north shore bridges in the summer heat- and they're always worth the effort afterward. Good times.

Shore = north shore riding in vancouver bc. Most people think stunts, but in reality shore riding has/had very little to do with stunts. Stunts were a way around and above swamp areas. Shore is VERY steep and VERY technical and VERY wet and rooty. Shore is now known for a style. "I build shore stunts" when in reality its just a ladder. Don't get me wrong, the shore is stunts, but it is more than that too. It is two mountain on the shore, not all 4 ot 5, although outsiders refer to the whole area as shore.
Shore Bridge - its a type of stunt, the most basic and common. See pic above.
Six-pack - a dj set. 6 jumps in a series (realy djs with landings)
Tree - ... ummm...ok I won't make a wise crack about it, but the north shore is about mountain to trees. For the most part stunts walk through the trees. Ewok trail or park was an interesting name as it applied perfectly.

Hate to high-jack this sucker but wouldn't it be easier to traverse all that rootyness and ladders and what not with a FS. I mean, its not a cop out to use a FS up there. I'm not trying to down talk FS at all trust, they are nice. I would just assume if you ride a hardtail it much be a sucker trying to ride all that.

Those are duallies? And yeah...a dually is almost required. Only the youngest or best use a ht.

Who is the best? I remember about a year and half ago before I got into mountain biking hardcore I read an article in ESPN Magizine about a guy who was really tearing up in BC. I can't remember his name but it talked about how crazy these guys were and how they would clear 30ft cliff drops. I remember thinking "holy crap those guys are nuts" and today its "holy crap those guys are nuts, I wanna do it!!"

BEst is a matter of opinion. Simmons is classic, Bearclaw is new school, Super T back then was up there. We have quite easily most of the top freeriders in the world 
And yeah they are all nuts, you should see the groms (youngens)

What kind of info. Ex bmxer cross over. Brought over a lot of skill and balls. Good rider and I am mostly impressed he is actually riding trails and not just djing and doing street. Definately one of my favorite riders.

Just the sight of elevated catwalks (I think Maelstrom calls them skinnies) gives me the heeby-jeebies. It just seems like there is *no* room for error. Especially in wet conditions.

Lots of history. It started by ways to get around stuff that was almost impossible to ride, check out the pics, you would have to cut a lot of undergrowth out to make a trail work, undergrowth is what a rainforest is, without it, trees die (swamp land) and savethe environment (instead of riding on roots and uprooting them for example) then it later became more challenging, adding stunts to maintainn the flow and then making them exceptionally difficult.
There are several movies. NSX series number 1 & 2 are old school shore riding before stunts became what the shore represents. I also recently grabbed a movie called Emergence talking about where mountain biking even started (Cove bikes working with MArin on custom bikes for the shore etc)
