SS 29er

Here goes another this vs that question for you. I'll be buying a ss 29er in the very near future, but I'm not sure which one. I've got it narrowed down to a trek marlin ss 29er or a redline monocog 29er. Any options on either one? I've test ridden both bikes and I like them both.

Don't have any experience with either, but I would pick the bike that gives you the option of a rear derailleur. I like the versatility of throwing gears on for when your out of shape or for long rides. That means the rear wheel should be able to hold a cassette, too. Well, something to think about.

I have a Redline monocog 29er.. love it.. nice to have the option of putting on disc brakes.. but to keep weight down I upgraded the stock v-brakes to Avid single digit 5 and made a world of difference (in brake performance).. I have the 17 inch frame and the geometry is perfect for a shorter guy like myself.. all my other geared bikes are gathering dust.. The redline has proven very reliable (duh, its a singlespeed) and solid performing.. . I dont know much about the trek but isnt a marlin a fish? j/k... Im sure both would serve you well. Hopefully someone with some marlin experience will respond..
