Mountain biking near Joshua Tree

Next week for spring break a couple of us are headed out to Joshua Tree to climb. I have 2 days set a side for mountain biking. Does anyone recommend a must do ride in the area? I am looking for some cross country single track and the more miles the better. I realize that we might have to drive as we are willing to drive an hour away from Joshua Tree.

I am pretty sure that JT proper doesn't allow mountain biking. But I think that you are close enough to do some trails in Palms Springs.
The most epic ride is the Palm Canyon Epic, but this involves shuttling.

I haven't done this one, but it allows you NOT shuttle.

Thanks for the info, I will look into both of these. I am pretty sure JT doesn't allow mountain biking as well.

Actually it does - check out the California Riding and Hiking Trail that runs through JT however, it a wide, nasty, really sandy trail... it's kind of fun to do but... not really. I usually just stay on the road and cruise around. I would not give up biking - it's a nice way to get from site to site and check things out.

Make the 1.5hr road trek to Hurkey Creek Park. I will be the highlight of your ENTIRE trip!!!! The trail network out there is extensive, fun and most of all....cooler.
