What a difference a fork makes.
Just got a 'new' rockshox tora 302 suspension fork to replace my crappy oem rattle your teeth out version. Holy smooth ride Batman! It may be on the cheaper end of the scale but it improves the ridability no end. Not bad for $80.

Second hand, but it was hanging from the wall at the LBS and the locals all want 'the best' so it wasn't selling and getting dusty. Still, its in almost new condition and 1000 times better than the one I had. He even fitted it for me with no extra charge.

Gave it as tough a test as the local conditions allow today. Ran at speed over unevenly graded gravel... like its not there. Ignored the nasty cracked concrete path and just went right on over... again like its not there. Ran her down a nice uneven dirt road as fast as I could given the mud was everywhere... handles like a dream. Found a stretch of morse code potholes and just plowed into all of them.. no problems maintaining steering.
Then I locked it out and ran on a slight downhill road as fast as I could which is about 47 km/h on that bike in my current condition smoothest ride ever. I don't think it would be up to the challenge of fast downhill single track but its the best $80 I've spent on a bike for a long time.

Awesome! I just got out to test my new fork the other day and I share your joy. Get that thing on some real trails so it can really make you smile!
