Do you shave your legs? If so, why?

Hell no. Simple reason...I don't want to.

Same reason Id on't wear lycra....don't want to

Errr.... no... the people that i think would shave their legs would be roadies...

Then again, i do have a mate who shves his legs because he's doesnt like to feel like a fluffy bunny when his legs are covering in hair...

guy must be a beast. I definately don't feel like a fluffy bunny.

Only benefit is road rash and aerodynamics. both of which a mountain biker doesnt have to worry about.

Yeah, I don't see as it would affect aerodynamics much, even for road riders.

I don't pay much attention to aerodynamics so I couldn't argue the point. I know you have to hit a certain speed before it becomes applicable. Maybe the fast ones go fast enough...

Actually, the fact is that Roadie's don't shave their legs for faster speed, it's merely to prevent infection of the road rash when they crash.... This IS the truth, believe me or not. Some may be thinking that it's for better aerodynamics, but that only tells the ones who know, that they "don't" know.

But some roadies still claim it...

I could see how shaving one's legs could keep you from getting infected when you get road rash from a crash. The aerodynamics argument can't possibly hold any water... Swimmers, it makes sense, but not cyclists.

Like I said, it IS the truth. Sanitary reasons, not aero reasons....

Shaving is for raodies. Pure and Simple.

Also, think about it. If Lance Armstrong wore the Livestrong wristband during the time trials, than that could not have that much of an effect considering all the rigorious air-tunnel testing he does. Now think about how much each hair matters...

i think roadies shave to save weight. Remember folks, every gram counts

My bf does it for the same reason we do. It feels good. Plus he says in summer heat it feels cooler to have the airflow. I just think he looks a lot better when he isn't furry.

Well, I'm asian and I have practically zero hair to start with. If I shaved my legs would look the same, so there is no real reason I would shave.

So no I don't shave but I don't have any hair to start with.

haha... lucky you :p I have hairy legs, but I don't care... nor do I care for the idea of shaving them.

Eh, moreso during the road season, although I still trim up now and then b/c it's eaiser to clean up the scrapes I get off road. I don't shave to the skin during the winter, I trim it.

Since I don't shave my face, shaving my legs would seem kinda silly.

My bf has a beard and shaves everything else. Rather appealing in my book. ;)

Well that's nice. But I gave up shaving cuz I couldn't deal with the hassle. So, shaving areas 10 times the size of my face just goes against my natural tendency towards laziness.

I have no issues with shaving legs or wearing lycra. In fact, I used to shave just about everything when I competed in bodybuilding and wore plenty of lycra in my life.

For mountain biking I do not shave, but I do wear lycra sometimes - usually when it is very hot and I have very long rides.

Sorry, but I just find it so amusing that guys have such an aversion to removing hair on thier legs ;) Then guys make us have to or else we are 'rough'. :rolleyes:

i used to do that when i swam, but no point anymore...razor is for the face, and in some circumstances *cough* you know wat i mean

lots of girls dont like that tho...so, be weary of saying you wouldnt casue you mite do it one day

Hah. I don't shave because of no hair. No hair+ Shave= Serious killer bleeding. I don't like to hurt myself, see. I don't shave.

As for swimming, stretch, I was swimming for a long time without cutting my hair, yes it made a difference in time, no I don't like hair cuts or anything like that. So I lived with kicking harder and using better technique.
