Picked up a Specialized Rockhopper Comp

Hi all, I picked up a Specialized Rockhopper Comp on craigslist the other day. It was kind of an odd situation. I was looking for a beater bike (something cheap) and I came across an early 2000s Rockhopper Comp for $80. It was missing a seat post, seat (had a department store seat), no rear brake pads, and had non-matching wheels (Alex DM18 rear / Mavic front). The seller talked himself down and told me I can have it for $50 *shrugs* so I took it. After going through the bike and replacing some parts with stuff I had in the bike box (descent WTB seat, Forte Seat post, Truvativ stem & handle bars, and brake pads) I got the bike rolling and it was nice.

One thing I noticed is that the right-hand shifter (rear derailleur shifter) has a broken window that indicates what gear you're on. Also, I am very aware that this generation of Rockhopper Comp was 27-speed with what should be a 9-speed cassette, but mine came with a 8-speed cassette. It shifts perfectly though so i'm assuming this is okay. My wife's seldom-used bike (Scott Contessa 30) has almost the same components and i'm thinking of swapping her shifter with mine. Is it easy to just swap the shifters over?http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=255211http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=255212

REALLY nice find for $50, and a good way to put those spare parts to use. The refurbed bike should sell for aroun $200 as is, without the 9 speed.
