Downhill Tires
 

I'm wondering if any of you have a suggestion on good tires for biking. My primary thing is downhill but I do freeride, XC, and Dirt Jumping if I can find some hills to fly off the top of... :) I also do some road riding to get to my trails. I have been looking for tires that can handle everything, mud, water, snow, rock, dirt, and of course the random branch thrown in for good measure across the trail. I was looking at the Maxxis Minions DHF/DHR but I am not sure if those would be the best. Preferably, I would like a 26x2.10-2.35. Any suggestions?

Maxxis Highroller. The minion is pretty much dh only and is very slow rolling.

No... not at all!

BTW you will find nothing that is perfect for all. I just find the highroller a good comprimise between all of those conditions.

Go with the Nokian Gazzaloddi 3.0 Downhill tires. They're really big and chunky but they can handle tons of abuse. One of the cons about them are that they weigh more than you would expect.

I have Nokians on my Stinky Deelux and those things grip buildings.

Bound to happen. I thought those tires died 2 years ago.

Yeah, I haven't heard of them for ages, probably because most bike didn't have enough clearance for them.

And I think people started going small again. 2.7 is basically the limit that I see and thats for huckers...

Maxxis seems to stick around that 2.35-2.5" range for whatever reason. I don't guess too many frames can take much wider than that.

You can get 2.7" Maxxis

I use 2.5" front and rear, used to use a 2.7" on the front and am even thinking of using a 2.35" on the rear for faster rolling in racing.
