You've got the same two choices as me: Heckler and Enduro. If it was just one, probably the Enduro since it seems to lean slightly more to the XC side than the Enduro, but if I can keep my hardtail around for that stuff, then it's dead even again. The Blur 4x and the Spider 5.5 have also caught my eye, though.

Unless you are worried about the same issue foes had in 2001 I think. But really specialized does this on all their dh bikes. I don't even know why they bother, you shouldn't be using a cage anyways

well, i just went through this thinking process for like the last 4 months since my RM Slayer was stolen...
i am SO happy with my choice:
Kona Coiler Dee-Lux!!
i was seriously looking at SantaCruz Heckler/Bullit, Specialized Enduro, Fusion Freak/Whiplash, RM Switch...
the Coiler is maybe a little on the heavy side (16.2kg or 36lbs) but it is strong and rides great (with 130mm Marzocchi Z1 Freeride fork) -- i could lighter it up with rims/tires/components and the like, but for freeriding it's not worth my money to destroy expensive parts.
for the price the Kona beats almost all of those!

Well... There are some fine bikes out there so i think i need to properly consider this but, I wouldnt say no to a Giant AC or a a yeti 575. But that specialized is mighty appealing
Thats also assuming that im only allowed to get a mountain bike, there are some really nice orbeas out there that could make me into a road cyclist

Don't you think a full suspension downhill bike would be kinda hard to ride if you wanted to ride on the road?
I added up some parts and stuff on JensonUSA earlier, this is the gist of what I came up with; it's pretty close to my 'dream' bike...
Cove Stiffee frame, Red
Marzocchi 66VF fork, 150mm
Mavic Deemax wheels, yellow
Truvativ Holzfeller cranks, single ring
Race face signature DH bottom bracket
Avid mechanical discs, 185mm/160mm f/r
Easton EC70 monkey lite DH bar
Thomson Elite MTB stem, 110mm
Shimano Saint rear derraileur
Sun/ringle ZuZu pedals
Chris King headset
Azonic love seat saddle, w/thomson elite seatpost
Sram attack trigger shifters
Complete, it adds up to a bit over $3000 :O
