My Christmas present to self

Yesterday I placed my order with Dean Cycles for a custom fit Colonel 29er (titanium) with an EBB. I had a lot of fun ordering the build kit, here's a list of the parts I have either sitting in the garage or are on the way;

Phil Wood bottom bracket
Raceface turbine cranks (square taper)
SPD 959 pedals
King headset (black)
White Brothers CX-1 29er fork
Thomson stem (black)
Easton carbon riser bar
Avid mech disc brakes, 185 fr/160 rr
Avid SL levers
Avid Flak Jacket cable (run with full length housing)
Moots Ti setback seatpost
WTB Rocket saddle w/Ti rails
King front hub (black)
Rohloff rear hub (polished)

Now I have to be patient for the 6 weeks or so Dean will take to build my frame. Pics to follow as the build commences....

Thats a bike and a half! Cant wait to see pictures of it! seen a Deam bike in a magazine under the super bike section... Looks so nice, if i had 2000 to spare, i'd probably buy one :)

well, it doesn't exist at the moment as it's not even built yet. However, I will admit that sounds like an amazing bike. I wish I had the cash to blow on something like that. It'd make a great commuter, especially with the Rohloff rear hub.

oh...my...god that is an awesome bike.

Does Chris King even have any real competitors in the high-end headset business?

I'd never buy one, but in that range, it doesn't look like there's an alternative!

Not that I can tell... Everything else seems to be about half the price... Chris King headsets are the best you can buy, but I don't think I'd ever dump that kind of money into a headset. Raiyn calls it "jewelry for your bike" and I'd say it's appropriate as it's really NICE but completely unnecessary. :)

This is jewelry for the bike...

or maybe this...

the King HS is a bulletproof piece that is as beautiful as it is reliable, it definitely serves a purpose, as do his hubs. Anyway, a Ti bike with a Rohloff hub deserves King parts, doncha think?

It would be a sacriledge to do anything else!

You do LOVE your 29ers don't you?

Is this an addition to the fleet or a replacement?

Sounds like a sweet build. The Eccentric should really clean-up the appearance. Good on YOU!

Well, the current ride's (it's sacrificing it's Rohloff for the cause) dropouts are adjustable horizontally, so it would be really easy to singlespeed it. Actually I think I'm gonna turn it into a gearie cyclocross/commuter bike with racks and fenders, maybe a Brooks saddle, thumbies, something to pull the kiddie trailer around the park with when I go riding with the wife and kids. If you ever find your way up here to Mi, I'll let you ride one of my 29ers, there will be no middle way, you'll either love it or hate it...
