Take one for a spin... i personaly would go for a higher quality bike.... i think they overprice their bikes by a bit.

If you are going to go with a Cannondale... check out the prophet... the Jekyll is okay, but, the prophet is great from what I have heard. I think they make a Prophet in the $1500 range.

the Prophet 600 is 2000+ i just got home from my LBS but they only gave me prices of what was in stock.

hmmm.... personaly... I would save up for a Prophet... but if a Jekyll is what you have the money for right now... and you don't feel like waiting. then go for it. Just remeber, you shouldn't settle on one bike right away, you should try out more then 4 brands and types... thats what I did.

i will try multiple bikes but i dont know what bikes are in this price range bacause everyon etells me to search on google or check the websites for MSRPs but they arent there.

...IH makes some very sick bikes. You can usually find them on Supergo for much less than MSRP also.

Ironhorse is quality. No better no less than canondale. PErsonally I would still trust a IRonhorse structurally more than a canondale.

TRek is something that many avoid for all mountain purposes. As for subhuman, ironhorse does NOT overcharge. In fact, they are part of the cheaper, good deal pack. I strongly suggest Ironhorse. All the ones I've rode are slightly heavy, but man, they are solid. Not sure about cannondale. Can't say I support Trek.

I like Kona but you should get the drive train of the Konas replaced asap. I only point out a problem in kona since I have one. Not sure about other bikes' downfalls though.

Ironhorse is better quality than Trek. However trek are bringing out new freeride bikes. These may be good but I have never seen one so I can't really comment. The Ironhorses that I have seen were sick. However all I have seen/been allowed to ride are; SGS Team DH, SGS World Cup DH and SGS freeride

Trek has some pretty amazing machining and there precision standards are more precises than the Army standars in machining.

Where I went to check out IH's they were price at least 500 more than MSRP... maybes its just that Bike Shop... personaly I frown down on Iron Horses...

I really like IronHorse bikes, they make really awesome looking freeride bikes. That's what I would get, IF my LBS would actually order one for me. Oh well. *goes back to the trek Bruiser 2*

you can get a 04 hollowpoint team form supergo for 100$ more then your budget.
Has 4.5 rear travel. Dont know if thats enough travel for you.
