jumping

Ok this one im not really sure on and neither are my friends, when you land a stair jump on pavement should you keep the back tire around half of the recommended psi level or should you keep it at a high psi? I used to jump stairs on my old Norco Pinnacle and I know its not meant for that but it held up pretty well but after awhile the back rim bent abit. I kept the back tire a little over the recommended level, would this have affected it?

I say 42+psi for a rear tire except when im DHing.....then its 15-23.
