Advice on brake upgrade on RockHopper

I have an 97 RockHopper (20.5”) purchased new with used fresh rebuilt fork upgrade to 2003 Marzzochi SL (rigid fork originally). I am thinking of converting to disk from V Brake. I would prefer to go low budget as I am not a hardcore off roader. I used the bike for commuting for a while but have purchased an 84 Trek 610 for that service.
The RH can now be configured for off road. What should I get? Thinking is as follows
  • Used AVID BB7 W/160mm disk
  • Use existing levers
  • Buy new front hub – 6 bolt Shimano XT or Deore?
  • Should get a rim too - ? (Current is Ritchey Rock SCX, 32-hole)

• Yes, Avid BB7
• Better to get a set of Speed-Dial levers - - they are worth the extra few dollars.
• Hub/
• Rim - - As much as I'm a fan of lace-your-own, you will probably find you are better off buying a disc front wheel built. By the time you buy a rim and/or hub - - then buy correct-length spokes (at or approaching $1/ea with nipples) - - you will be much more into a front wheel than you need to be. Universal Cycles has disc fronts starting at just a tick over $50:

I second BB7's. Low maintenance & easy to adjust.

BB7's i'm also agree with this.
I like to travel at mountains so this bike preform well at narrow difficult route. Easy to handle & keep proper way to stay at route.
