Is this a good idea
I was wondering if it would be a good idea to slowly upgrade the parts on my bike to light parts that i could transfer to a new bike if i got a frame and built it up. I have a giant boulder se and would eventualy like to get like a giant xtc or something similar. But if i bought the parts slowy and used them on this bike then i could by the frame and build my own bike but i would be able to pay less at that time becase i would already have some of the parts. And if so what would be the best parts to upgrade first. I was kinda thinking the rims, tires and maybe stem and handlebars since i don't want to spend a lot right now. thanks

I have done that. It works fine. Keep in mind some parts may not be transferable (seatpost and bb for example). Otherwise, I have done that with 2 bikes with good success. Saved me a buttload :)

Ok those parts would most likly be transferable because it would be a giant bike to a giant frame most likly thanks

Thats how I made most of my rigs(including an XTC now). Contrary to common thought, a Boulder fitted propperly can do a great deal.

I am correct in saying that the frame material bettween the XTC and the Boulder SE are different. About how much lighter is the XTC frame and can you post a pic of it. thanks
