Anyone have experience with a company that organizes mtn bike groups/tours, something like Trek Travel. I'm looking to do a 5-6 day deal, preferably in Colorado this summer. I'm looking for a 50+ mile a day program, sleep in a bed, all meals done for you, supported rides, etc. Any suggestions?

can't help you in Colorado.

but i know a lot of possibilities in Europe. the tour called a "TransAlp" is really popular here which means a tour crossing the Alps usually in 5-10 days, using the alps hut system and pensions for food and lodging. you carry a backpack of 6-7kg (13-15lb) with you basic daily necessities.

i lead a 9-day TransAlp every summer with am emphasis on lots of SINGLETRAIL. this year the TransAlp is 9 days riding from August 12-20 with an average of 1600 to 1800 vertical meters of climbing (5000 to 6000ft) and about 65km (40 miles) per day from Innsbruck Austria to Lake Garda Italy.

This past September, my wife and I did fours days in Vermont on an "inn-to-inn" tour. We told them how many miles/day, and they booked the inns (meals included for the most part), supplied us detailed cue sheets, and shlepped our luggage in a van. Worked out very well with the exception of one day in which one of those hurricanes passed through - that day we caught a ride in the van, and did some local riding in the downpour. The riding itself was not explicitly supported - but since it was just us, we went at our own pace. Inns were really comfortable and accomodating. This is the way to do it.

It was way cheaper than Trek, but we live a few hours away and just drove to the starting place with our bikes. This organization - see here is mostly one person operation, and we had previously tried to do the winter xc skiing inn to inn (seems each year we hit it during the thaw) thang with them. There are lots of other groups with varying options, sizes, and price tags.

Sounds like you want Bicycle Tour of Colorado or Ride the Rockies... both of which are pavement, but you posted this in the mtb forum, so me confused.

If you want a dirt tour, I don't think you can find one that'll put you in a bed/hotel. If you want to camp and be fully supported, check out www.Bikerpelli.com -- people have raved about it. It's only 142 miles, so not your level of epic, but still pretty huge. You end up in Moab, Utah, so if you want more miles, there are support tours of the 100 mile White Rim nearby.

If you want comfort -and- dirt, you should stay in a hotel in Winter Park or Crested Butte... they've got trails just few miles from most hotels. Don't remember how many miles CB has, but WP has over 500 miles of trails. Lift service available for gravity runs.
