Sizing and frame help on a Mongoose XR200 + Questions for charity

Hello BF MTB users.

I know NOTHING about MT Bikes... NADA So I come here humbly asking for your help.

Story goes: One of our bikes was stolen, a good friend kindly gave us this Mongoose XR200:

Another friend also gave us a MOTIV which fits ok and works as a temp commuter bike until we can afford a replacement.

The Mongoose XR200 doesn't fit so I want to give it away to someone in need and keep the good karma flowing.
I also do not want to give someone something they can't use so I would like to learn as much as I can prior to posting this to freecycle.

I am confused because I really can't find any good info on this particular bike not to mention this frame type and how to size the bike considering the stem is not solid.
So from the image above can someone please help me determine what kind of frame this is as well as how to measure it for sizing so the next person who gets it will actually fit the bike?

Thank you so much in advance and I hope to come away knowing a little bit more about MT Bikes.

As noted above, it's a walmart bike and as such, probably only came in one size. Measure from the center of the bottom bracket (crank bolts) to the top of the seatpost clamp to get what some would consider the size. I usually measure a level line from the center of the headtube to the center of the seatpost to fit my bikes, this is typically called the Effective Top Tube (ETT). 58cm is perfect. 56 -60 will work for me.

I have a question and thank you for finding the walmart link
[h=3]26" Mens' Mongoose XR-200 Mountain Bike - is the 26" referring to the wheel size?[/h]I measured originally from the crankset to the seatpost and got 20" which is why I am unsure on sizing this bike.

Any more info than can help would be great otherwise I will just have to put that link in the post and hope someone who fits it responds.

I recognize that model immediatley from my bike flipping days. Yes the 26" refers to the size of the tires and your measurement of 20" for the frame is about right, actually I thought they were all 18", but that may be wrong. The bike has a disc on the front and decent V's on the rear. The braking on the bike is good, but the drivetrain is very low end. The bike has one very serious flaw, the front hub. The ball bearings are held in by a rubber or plastic clip, not sealed like most hubs are. That's how I obtained mine so cheap. The front hub went out of adjustment, and the bearings fell out. It's easy to rebuild as long as the race isn't scarred.
It may have the dreaded plastic Shimano rear derailer which will work on the street, but should not be taken on a MTB trail as it can not take punishment. If your lucky, you got the model with the low end SRAM unit.
I used the one I had on a gravel rails to trails. It was heavy and did not handle very well. However, as Walmart bikes go, this one is better than their typical bike. If I recall correctly, this one has double wall rims. Although the derailers may be hard to tune, once properly tuned, they shift quite well. As long as there is no wobble in the front wheel, and it turns freely, this is a good candidate for donation.
Hope this helps.
