Hello all. I am a newbie to the forum. I have a used, not abused, Fetish Cycles Discipline mountain bike frame with the following components:

This is the Classic and Vintage appraisal forum. I doubt many will have much of an idea. You might try posting in the forum related to the type of bike you're discussing and have some luck that way.

I'll give it a shot, but I'm not MTB value expert. I say $100ish. $200+ if you're in a hot market. It's a nice frame and you'll find lots of great reviews on it. It's very strong and stiff with a versatile geometry. The XT parts on your bike are very decent stuff, but the wheels and rim brakes kill any value it might have if it had nicer wheels with disks on it.

Looks small in that picture, though hard to tell. The size, plus the fork (how many years old?), wheelset, brakes..a limited market to sell to...perhaps someone building a project hardtail. If you are selling, better get that size, accurate measurements out front in your ad.

I may be completely off here, but I think you might a decent amount more if you're up to parting it out. $30-60 for the frame with headset depending on condition, $60+ for derailers and shifters, $10 for handlebars, $10 for the stem, $10-20 for crank-set, $10-25 for tires depending on condition, $40-60 for wheel-set, $10 for cassette if it's still decent and has life in it, $5-10 for the seat, $20-40 for the brake-set/levers, $20ish+ for fork depending on condition. You're looking at $225 just adding the low end of those prices. I know I could get at least those on CL in my area. Definitely $300+ if you're in a really hot market. I don't know how much interest there is in MTB parts in flat FL though...

I think there are some errors in your description though.
That 9-speed rear cluster is probably a cassette - not a freewheel.
Your wheel size is more likely to be 26" or 29" than 22"
The rim description should probably read 'Alex Rims DM18' instead of 'Axelrims DM18' Those were made in both 26" (559) and 29" (622) sizes.

As a mtb it probably falls short of what most people would be looking for. As a hybrid or commuter - it should easily get $200 to $300. More is the drivetrain shows no wear and everything is in good shape.

I've only seen those WTB VelociRaptor 2.1's in a 26" size so I'm guessing thats your actual wheel size. The tires are one of the most popular mtb tires on the market so if you get no bites as a mtb bike - just sell the tires seperately. MSRP was around $50 each.

A decent pair of road slicks - and you're off .... now as a city bike!

Thank you everyone for your input and recommendations. I measured the rim diameter and they are 22". This bike was purchased quite a while ago and was over $1000 when new. I may just sell the tires, buy road slicks and keep her......

Suggest you check whats written on the sidewall of the tire itself. AFAIK WTB never made a 22" VelociRaptor 2.1.

I'm also curious why you've described this as being a 29" bike. Thats usually used to describe a 700 series wheel size referred to as a 29'er when mtb tires are installed. In a frame size a 23" is already XL.

Keep it. You aren't going to get anything close to what you paid for it. I like your idea of turning into a street bike. I would use it as errand bike. (also wheel size for the most part is measured with the tire installed and inflated.)

I will check the tires to confirm, the 29" is probably incorrect as I had heard you should measure from the floor to the top of the frame standing. Wouldn't be the first time I have been wrong nor the last....

Yeah, I am going to keep it. Doesn't make sense to sell it for the money I am going to get for it. Couldn't replace it!

You can never resell a new bike for what you paid for it, and usually not even close to what you paid new, even if you didn't ride it much. In any case, the wheel size should be on the side-wall of the tire. It's 26" or 29". The frame size is measured from the center of the bottom bracket(the bolt that holds on the cranks) to the top tube. Go look up bike frame size on google. Simple stuff.

That is pretty much common sense on the resell issue. Would never have expected to get what I paid for it.
From what you are describing the frame is 17" and the tires are 26". Would never have guessed that is how you measure a bike tire. LOL Motorcylces, cars, trucks,etc. are all measured by the rim diameter.
