Choosing Between 3 Forks
Here are my choices:
Manitou Mars Super Marzocchi Marathon S 100 Fox Float RL The bike i'm mounting it on is the Stumpjumper FSRxc Pro. I worry how the 100mm fork will change my geomatry. That will put it between the Mars Super and the Fox Float RL. Which would u choose? |

My vote goes to the Fox.

Live a little and get the FOX, but spend some more and get the RLC.

Fox Float RL
i bought an '02 FSR XC Comp in March that comes with the Fox (chose it over the Pro b/c of the fork) - i've ridden it over 900km already and the Fox is awesome! it is stiffer than the SID i used to have and rides great. I also really like the easy to use lockout - you can set the fork up w/ low air and then turn on the lock for the climb and 1/2 second while riding flip the switch back on for the descent... After the SID which was a huge improvement from Judy XC and Manitou SXR TPC (from '97) i wasn't expecting much improvement from the Float - but it's awesome. honestly don't know much about the Mars Super, but it's not air is it? as an XC rider i love the air shocks because they don't move until you need them (i find the oil shocks bounce all the time for the given level of travel) not sure, but i think the 100m will definitely change your geometry and the FSR geometry is right on - i love the bike and maybe my only complaint is that the bottom bracket is a little low and i have less pedal clearance than my old bike so i clock rocks and roots all the time with my pedals, and sometimes hit the pedals on sharp curves when i'm pedalling through... |
