Geometry advice please

As I said in my last post I am trying to decide between a Trek 6700 or a Gary Fisher HKEK, both new. There were several that helped before, thanks. I am still concerened about liking the GF genesis geometry in the long run. I have tried it briefly, but around the parking lot or down the street just does not seem like enough, and I don't want too spend the money if it will eventually something I won't like. So I am asking again for comments from those that have experiences/advice to share. Maybe its just not that big a deal-I'm just not sure. Thanks!

GF and Trek have the same geometry. They're the same company
edit: It's close but not exactly the same

Not really. Remember, GF uses Genesis Geometry. Check the chain stay length. The HKEK has a 413 mm chain stay where the Trek has a 424 mm chain stay.

Therefore, the back wheel of the HKEK is tucked under more, thus creating the "Genesis" geometry.

I've tried it, and personally I don't like it (Genesis Geometry). Maybe because it was so different than what I was used to or maybe because it didn't fit my body.

Regardless, I tried one of the shop demo bikes for a XC race and had the worst race of my life. I hated the way the bike climbed, descended, went straight, turned,...everything. Plus, I had NEVER cramped as bad, and was sore for days. That was the WORST bike I'd ever ridden. It was by no means a cheap bike. It was a SUGAR 2.

Dang that's right. It's subtle but correct. Not the first time I've made a mistake - won't be the last. Good catch. Oh well at least the data I supplied is right. It's Photochopped right off the respective websites.

From what I can tell, the Genesis geometry has a really short rear end and a stretched out cockpit. The top tube appears to be quite long for the bike sizes in question.

Yeah, strangely enough, I was just comparing the "LARGE" frame and the effective top tube is about equal, but when you compare the small and the medium there is a significant difference as well.

take into account that the large sizes vary by a half an inch too... compare the mediums and it's a little different. Granted it's only 0.8" but it'd be noticeable.
