Marzocchi Mz-Comp

Why can I not find ANY information about the Mz-comp fork? Is it just a huge typo that everyone does (mx-comp > mz-comp) ? Can anyone help me out?

hooligan 02-13-05 11:50 AM

!! It's on the marzochhi website for the tech manual. The reason that it's neglected is because it's a terrible fork, under the marzocchi name, which isn't even made my marzocchi. It's a decent OEM fork, but terrible compared to the rest of the market. The adjustments dont do ********.

EDIT: Sorry, MZ RACE ADJUSTMENTS DONT DO JACK.

Jason222 02-13-05 11:58 AM

What does "Comp" mean?

hooligan 02-13-05 12:03 PM

comptetion? I don't know. Frankly, it doesn't really matter. The next one up is called race, which is what I have.

Jason222 02-13-05 12:06 PM

Ok, The Bruiser 2 comes with a Mz-comp fork, and if it's made for Xc and marathon, then why is it on a DJ/freeride bike?

hooligan 02-13-05 12:08 PM

Why? Because it's cheap and probably one of the strongest oem forks at the time.

Jason222 02-13-05 12:10 PM

ok, I'm gunna sound really stupid now, but what is OEM ?

hooligan 02-13-05 12:14 PM

It's basically components that come with bikes and are not sold in the after market unless the shop traded the parts off a bike. Original Equipment Manufacturer is OEM.

Jason222 02-13-05 12:23 PM

thanks!

PWRDbyTRD 02-13-05 12:49 PM

The MZ Comp has a real springy feeling to it...versus some others I've felt that are more spongey

swifferman 02-13-05 02:04 PM

best you're gonna get included on a bike unless you go up a few hundred more though! (but the rest of your component package component gets upgraded to for maximum efficiency)

bruiser2 02-21-05 06:49 PM

I also have a bruiser 2 and i was wondering what a good fork for it would be? im looking for something thats not too expensive with a big enough improvement to make it worth spending the extra money. Also, what type of shocks are the mz-comps, as far as the damping, i was told that they werent oil filled so what are they.

hooligan 02-21-05 08:50 PM

I don't think they have dampening at that price point. A good fork? For what? DJing? Xcing?

mindbogger 02-21-05 09:38 PM

I think you can find the fork under OEM section.

snakehunter 02-21-05 09:55 PM

A good DJ for would be a marz. Dirt Jumper or z1, they are abit expensive, but worth it in my opinion.

arboc! 02-21-05 10:05 PM

my mz makes funny noises... i think im about to run it into the ground

bobsaget 02-21-05 11:13 PM

I have a question...

Is this fork air or coil?

Thanks.

arboc! 02-21-05 11:15 PM

coil

Dirtbike 02-22-05 12:16 AM

I used to have one and I hated it. I now have a Z1, but its getting upgraded by zokey to QR 20.

PWRDbyTRD 02-22-05 12:33 AM

I think the MZ Comp is actually elastomers too

cryogenic 02-22-05 12:52 AM

yeah.. it's coil/MCU elastomer. I have one myself.

bruiser2 02-22-05 01:45 PM

thanx, i was also wondering how much i would have to spend to get a good shock like the dirt jumper or z1 that was suggested. I am freeriding and dirt jupming so i was wondering whether it would be better to get a freeride fork or a dirt jumping fork

arboc! 02-22-05 01:49 PM

your looking for a fork...not a shock, and about $300 for dirtjumper 3, and around $4-500 for the z-1

Dirtbike 02-22-05 02:52 PM

You can also find alot of used DJ IIIs too. Ive seen 2004 models as low as $100

try www.craigslist.org

bruiser2 02-22-05 05:52 PM

O yeah my bad with the shock mixup, i used to race quarter midgets(go-karts) and must have had schocks on my mind. Would u recommend gettin a used fork, is it a safe bet to get one?
