2006 Specialized Enduro
Hey guys,
I am mostly a road biker but do mountain bike as well. I have a crappy BD Motobecane that I have trashed (in one ride managed to bust the RD and crank on a good fall) and looking to upgrade. Nothing spectacular, just need a good bike to manage some Minnesota trails. Could go hardtail but a full suspension like the Enduro could be more versatile (didnt do much DH since the other bike was hardtail).
Does this 2006 Specialized Enduro seem like a good option? Size is right (6'1") and a good price point. Reviews seem fairly positive on the Enduro. Toughest part is convincing my wife I need another bike...
Thanks

Would budget for replacing bearing, fork and shock service (2 years since re-build indicates it's due for another one), DU bushing & reducers, and some decent brakes.
From the photos, it looks OK, but it's a 7 year old full suspension bike, which from the setup has had a hard life, and a dated design; all said though, you are getting quite a lot of bike for you money if the frame / wheels are good.
For busting the crank and RD in a fall, whose to say you won;t do exactly the same thing with a different bike?

That's a good price on the Specialized IF as Jim asked, is the rear sus in good condition. If the bushings are shot, then any savings will be spent on replacement. I know 2006 is getting a little dated, but the good news is, Specialized had a major design change in 2004-2005. This bike benefits from that re-design and should not have the flex (bobbing) problem that almost all early Specialized (and other brand) dual sus bikes had.
Have the bike checked out, if possible by a bike shop. If it checks out go for it. FYI, I just sold a 2005 FSR XC with a Fox F-100 on it for $590 on CL. My e-mail lit up within a few hours and it was gone in 24 hours of posting. Specialized dual sus that are 05 or newer in good shape, don't last long at $600. Hope that one hangs around for you to have it checked out.

I have a 2004 Enduro Expert I wouldn't trade for anything new. I have replaced bushings twice since buying it new and put new seals on the rear shock once. I rode often for the first four years of owning it and started again a year ago. The bushing and pivot kit was @ $25.00 and the seal kit $10.00. The frame style is changed for 2006, so I'm not sure if these parts are different.
