What would be the best thing to wear right now I
Not able to afford any mtb apperal so what should I be sure to wear

Not certain where you are - go to Target, Kohl's or JCPennys (I suppose even WalMart). All 3 stores carry "fitness" Apparel that is perfect for riding. Shirts that are made of a material that is lightweight and will wick away moisture. Cost $12 - 15 bucks each.

I got nothing on the shorts as I would recommend a good pair but if you have to go cheapo try Performance Bike. If you choose just to wear regular shorts (not cycling shorts), make sure they are lightweight and not cotton. They should contain lycra, polyester or spanex at least 15%. You can get those shorts at the above stores.

What about jeans ? Since ill be on trails

What sort of riding are we talking about? If it was DH maybe you could get away with not having cycle specific shorts (either a short-liner or bibs) as you won't be in the saddle pedaling too much.
If it's a more pedal orientated of the sport (XC), I'd lean towards investing in a pair of cycle specific shorts with a pad in - especially if you plan on anything endurance based. They will give more to your experience/health/comfort than any other component of clothing (except a helmet, but I guess that's a given).

Jeans... On dry trails, maybe... But they're going to get soaking wet and stick to you a lot after anything wet/sweaty.

Although, at the end of the day, ride with what kit you want - nobody is going to stop you riding and the most important thing is actually getting out and riding as far as I'm concerned.

Just adding about jeans... as Lew said, just getting out is what matters but if possible, try not to wear restricting or tight clothing; something that will not move and breathe with you. Jeans, and any fabrics with Cotton, like t-shirt and cargo shorts, will retain, not wick water. Not only will the fabric then bind and chafe, it might encourage bacteria growth. Do you need to wear long pants for some reason? If so, how about something you would run in or play basketbal that has a fabric more forgiving?

I like Cargo Shorts and a long sleeve shirt. The long sleeve for Sunscreen kinda protection and at least a layer between you and anything that might want to scrape you up. For mountain biking I like heavier material shorts for a bit of protection is you slide on the ground. It doesn't happen often, just at the dumbest times when I didn't think it could happen.

I used to wear Basketball shoes for ankle support, but a grumpy ole dude around here had a minor problem with it. Now I wear sticky bike specific shoes like Pearl Izu's and 5.10's.

Go build up a good sweat and let us know how it went. Don't worry the little stuff.

What part of the country do you live in. I'm in the desert SW and wew love cotton this time of year for the cooling effect. But if there is humidity where you ride, avoid it like taxes.

I like Carharts paired with an old moto jersey and a sweet pair of PF Flyers.

For downhilling, I break out the heavy artillery with the Moto III, my goatskin Torsten Hallman Desert Pants and the Hi-Points . . .

Office Halloween. I don't use much imagination - - my firefighting turnouts, my old flat track leathers, old MX gear, etc.
