RockShox Duke SL or Psylo XC?
 

Which is better for moderate to rough XC rides, with <2' dropoffs. Im upgrading from an Indy C for my 98 cannondale and cad get either for about the same price. Which will work better? How bad will the geometry be off?

Neither, same some more money and buy a Marzocchi! I've ridden a bunch of Rock Shox, and the Marzocchi's are far superior and much more durable!

Yea I know what you're sayin, but the fact is i can get either of these forks for less than $200, which is all i have the money for anyway. Either one seems to be a good deal for the money, im just wondering which will be better for me. Anyone using either of these forks?

And nodoubt the Marzocchi's are awesome forks, i just dont want to/ can't spend that kind of money on one right now. i have to pay for school too.

try to get '01 zokes on closeout somewhere! the Z3 absolutely rocks and its got 80/100 mm travel options.

yah ima have to agree with Art. If you can find a closeout on a '01 marzzochi you are much better off doing that. It is a much better buy and you will enjoy it much better. Plus Rock Shox is on the verge of being bankrupt and bought out buy some other company which is why you are able to get the "toothpicks" for cheap. They also dont absorb as much because the tubes are so thin. I tried a 80mm marzocchi next to a 80mm rock shox and the marzocchi i must say had a much better feel to it. thats my 2 cents tho.

I like my Psylo XC. In fact, I haven't even gone over the bars since I got it. It replaced a 99 Judy. It's nice to be able to reduce the travel on the fly, and increase the travel with just a five second pullover. I'm sure the Marzochi is a better fork, but the Psylo works great for me. I'm 235lbs and haven't bottomed it out off any jumps yet.:beer:

about the forks, i suggest you go with the psylo. the geometry will be a little off, but my friend got the psylo sl, and he dais that it doesnt make a big difference. he put it on a trek fuel 100, the best xc dual there is.

Hey, I don't know a lot about the shocks, other than I seem to see the psylo's on more of the higher end bikes. I mainly just wanted to complement the last guy on his little bicycle letter-drawing. :D

screw marzocchi i have a 02' psylo on my 99' gary fisher marlin, and i have yet to bottom it out, and i go off drops twice the size of the 2 footers you talking about, marzocchi is a rip off, you can get a great psylo for half of what marzocchi gives. go with the psylo xc:crash:

Wow I though I was the only oddbal to put a Psylo SL on a FUEL 100 frame :beer: I love the psylo, the lockout is a good feature and i use it a lot, but i dont use the u turn much, just leave the fork at 80mm 90% of the time.

why would you put a psylo on a fuel 100?

1- Cost

2-Sturdiness (PSylo is MUCH stiffer than any Sid, and its durable and active even under braking and tracks a LOT better in the rough stuff, feels more secure)

3-Reliability (Psylo is coil sprung, no adjustments required + less maintenace)



At first it doesnt make much sense to put a Psylo on a Fuel but after using it , its awesome. It also makes the bike a more versatile machine. (keep in mind its a Psylo Sl with lockout, the lockout is Key for making the bike more usable on road just in case)

??? Really. Xc bikes only though I assume because 70% of the people around here and the bikes sold here have Marzocchi's. If people want durable, tough and easy to maintain they normally buy Marzocchi. The other 30% is shared with Rockshoxxxxx, Manitou and Fox (not many of these though)

The Psylo and Duke are the same fork (for the most part) externally.

I would go for the Duke personally to save a little weight and not give up any stiffness.
