You will never guess what I saw on the trail

I went down to west Denver to ride at Green Mtn, (lower elevation, dry trail), it was a good time. One the way back to the car, I decided to do some exploring, trying some lesser used side trails.
I was on this trail that went down into a gulch/gulley, the lower into the gulley I went the higher the brush got along side of the trail, soon the brush was about 4 ft or so high.
I came around a slight curve and saw this bloody mess in the middle of the trail, I slowed as I approached till I recognized that it was the back half of a deer!, big pool of blood and a huge blood drag going off into the brush, I dodged the carcass and got the heck out of that gulley.
From the quick driveby that I had, it appeared to be a recent kill, there was still blood pooled under the carcass, I haven't ridden that fast in a while.

That's scary.

But I've got a funny story... yesterday, I was on a local trail and decided to do a little trailblazing through a lesser-used spur, and came upon two kids getting it on in the woods. They quickly hid under their blanket, and I quickly spun away, a bit embarrassed

Half a deer gone?
Well-- I suppose that whatever ate the unlucky deer had satisfied its appetite, so you were probably safe?

Not too sure about that, looked like it had drug the other portion into the brush , not sure how far away they had gone, but mountain lions can be extremely protective over their kills, either way, I got away from the carcass and fast.
My reasoning is simple, sucessfully flee = 100% survival, stick around the site cause I think I am safe, < 100% survival potential

Now there's a good reason to carry some protection while riding.

That's exactly what I don't miss about riding in Canada. Always having to look over my shoulder.
"Is Yogi following me?"
"Will Bullwinkle charge me?"
"Is Pepe le Pew setting me up"?
"Am I the hunter or the hunted"?
Some consider this virtuous and part of mountain biking. Bullenscheisse!

Don't miss it one bit.

I took my son for a hike & bike trail ride that cuts through a park on the seedier part of town. The trail winds right by a picnic table at one point. As we approched the table there was a guy sitting there and a girl was laying across his legs. Both were fully clothed, however her face was buried in his lap. It took a few seconds to register what was going on. By then I was about about five feet from the couple. He didn't flinch, bat an eye, or even seem to care... Mr. Cool. The girl never even noticed our passing.
We flew by and a second later I'm thinking... Did I really just see that? I turned and looked at my son. He had a big grin on his face.

Does that make you a bad dad? You should be more careful where you take the little guy.
