Which enduro Bike?

I have a decision to make between two Specialized Enduro's. Which is better? They have similar upgrades. I am riding AM, single track, and XC.

1) 2002 Enduro Pro- https://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/1395359/

2) 2005 Enduro ?- https://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/1351559/

the '05 has a FOX RP23 that he put on it this week. He is also fitting a new wheel. A Shimano Deore Hub laced to a WTB All MTN Speeddisc rim. Does that justify his price point at all? He said he wont come down from $700.

Too much for the '02. '05 is at the upper end of its value but it has a lot of mods. One might argue that the Black isn't an upgrade off the stock Fox; in fact, if the Black isn't at least a 130mm (I think they topped out at 120 IIRC), it's too short for the bike. That Enduro Comp is supposed to have a 130mm fork on it. If it's not long enough, stay away from it. If it is, that's a decent bike at an acceptable/high price.

Keep looking, there HAS to be a better deal out there. Even with the 'upgrades', the '05 is pricey. The '02 is a joke -- it would be acceptable at something between 1/3 & 1/2 the asking price.

is there a reason you've narrowed it all the way down to the specialized enduro? I'm not a huge fan of the FSR rear suspension. it is fine... but not superlative, IMHO.

What do you think was superlative in 02-05?

Well, if we cheat a year, the Santa Cruz Nomad arrived in 2006.

But it's 2013, guv. There are many better suspensions today and have been for several years. That's why I asked how the OP's short list came down to these two bikes. I would pick a different 5-6" travel bike, depending on his budget.

^^ There is a reason that Horst Leitner's genius and Specialized's patent has been thinly skirted around, fudged-up-to-the-brink-of and outright pirated even to this day.

And even though we know it's 2013, there are those among us who can't (or choose not to) spend on today's latest-and-greatest - - and in the vintage and price range the OP is looking, FSR is damn hard to beat.
