Been Thinking
I posted this in the Women's Forum, but thought I'd post it here too, since it is MTB specific.
For my MTB I purchased the Forte' Easy Rider Saddle and it has worked out well so far. However, I was reading some reviews that it does not hold up well. I left Lanny (my MTB) on my bike rack on my car one night and it monsooned. It seemed to be fine the next day. I figure that since I bought Lanny off CL I wouldn't be putting a lot of $$$ into him, as I am just beginning to MTB and he was purchased to see if I enjoy this aspect of cycling (so far, so good), but I have put a little money into him (brake cables, shifters, seat, accessories he shares with his wife , Lola, the commuter). Anyway, sorry to ramble. My question is should I get a MTB-specific saddle, or stick with this one? It doesn't look "MTBish" either - LOL- not that it really matters. I also choose it because it is very comfortable and I have a very boney butt, so the other saddles I tried just felt wrong/uncomfortable, not just on my butt but on my vaginal area, too. Also, just for opinions sake; I've been pining after a new MTB - nothing fancy, just dual-suspension/21-speed Trek or Cannondale, but would need to save up for it and I'm not sure since I just bought Lanny in June if replacing him already is worth it or if he still has good years left in him. Perhaps, I'm kicking myself a bit because he's the first MTB I saw on CL and I bought him without doing much comparison shopping. Took him to my LBS and have made the adjustments (brake cables, shifters) they suggested and he I'd in perfect (nothings perfect, but oh we'll) working condition but he is cosmetically beat up and that may be why I'm lusting after a new, shiny one. Advice? Opinions? I'll post pics soon. |
You have a saddle that's comfortable on a bike you liked enough to name. Seems to me you're set!

Generally a MTB saddle has a durable cover material and stitching so that it will survive some crashes without being torn.
Otherwise, as long as it works for you, it's good to go. |
