Any of you have this contraption? Minoura bike bottle holder Bottle Cage-Adapter Saddle.aluminum

I know the reviews say the bottles rub on your bum but it can be bent a bit to angle the cages.

I've used the one OP linked to, on vintage racing saddles. The thing is finicky to install perfectly, I think it would be a problem fit on many saddles. Just be sure you can send it back. It's benefit is you can still stow a small bag, mini, , below the saddle.

Is it solid, stable for long hard ride? Yep.

Sadly I have skin issues so I have to wear loose clothes and wearing a camelback is out of the question until the weather cools down.

Notgrownup 08-16-13 06:28 AM

I want to wait until it cools off to use a Camelback also, seems like it would be Hot in this NC heat and humidity...

Sweaty fat folks (like me) don't fare too well in this heat!

I am a pretty big boy myself... I see you are in western KY... I use to travel that way quite bit...I visited Nursing Homes in Benton, Bowling Green, use to cut through Land between the lakes and Cadiz... Very nice are...

You ever ride at the Canal Loop at LBL? I haven't been in years but as soon as my bike build is done ill be going back.

Notgrownup 08-16-13 11:33 AM

No i was only up there by car for work... never rode the canal loop...

ColinL 08-16-13 02:47 PM

How can you use one of these and get down anything resembling a steep hill or drop? You can't get behind the saddle... sounds like a recipe for going over the bars.

I can see the use on a road bike-- very common for time trials etc. Even on a hybrid / city bike, no problem there. But a MTB?

Hydration packs are hot in the summer, no argument there. Mine is a pile of sweat after any ride warmer than 60F. If I couldn't wear it, I'd have one or two bottles on my frame and if I needed more water than that I'd first look at bar-mounted bottle cages. They aren't great, but they're better than an endo.

This forum is for discussions relating to MOUNTAIN BIKING

I wore a camelblak in NC for many years, pretty sure lots of other folks still do.

I have a bottle cage mounted at the base of my proflex seatpost at the back and my over riding impression is that it is covenient but it gets covered in mud and you have to use a bottle with a lid cover.

Just got something from ebay, very similar and complicated looking but it works very well. Item number - 181214149814
