Where To Mount Bottles?
Looked and didn't find answer so here is question.
I have a Revel 29. It has bottle cage mount screws on both vertical and diagonal elements of diamond frame. But, there isn't clearance to use both. Must choose one or the other.
Camelback style hydration packs don't work for me.
I've tried a handlebar bag. Awkward at best.
I went into REI and looked at their two bottle bracket that mounts on seat post. It is held together with a very fragile looking band. Sales person says it is as fragile as it looks and they not only don't carry replacements, they don't know where to get them.
Any suggestions? Experience?

I used to attach one bottle to the top tube of my bike using velcro straps. When the bottle in my down tube bottle ran out, I switched them. Just make sure you use some high strength velcro for the straps.
But now I prefer hydration packs, much more convenient and they bother me a lot less than I thought they would, but i can see why some people would prefer to use bottles.
Don't get the seat post bottle holders, pretty much all of them are too fragile for MTB use.

My MTB, Stumpjumper FSR, only has one mount and with the frame design it is pretty much worthless. I only use a Camelback with riding it.
How about a Handlebar mount like this?

I have also seen roadies use a seat mounted system, but they are pricey

I have given up on bottles and gone with a hydration pack. I have seen 70oz packs at Army Navy stores for $12. Room for tools, some medical stuff, a couple cigars and a few snacks.

I use this on one of my bikes; it is my favorite way of putting on an extra bottle: https://www.cambriabike.com/King-Cage...Cage-Mount.asp

I use this on another bike, it is very solid, I run it off my handlebars, as close to the headtube and stem as I can without having the bottle interfer: https://www.topeak.com/products/bottle-cages/cagemount

On this bike I had no handlebar real estate so I did this:

If you have two places to mount cages (I did not) you might try side entry cages to see if you can get two bottles in. Or shorter bottles.

Thanks. All good ideas. I'll check them out.
