Need toe clips

Hi;
I'm looking into buying a pair of toe clips (preferably strapless) for my Trek 950 mountain bike. I want the clips to increase my "pedal-power" while climbing hills, so I need a clip that will allow me to apply upwards force. At the same time, I want to be able to jump off the bike quickly if need be, so I think straps are out.
I'm looking at a pair of "EVO Double Quick Strapless Clips", but one reviewer said that they were "too small for average toe box". I wear running shoes while biking, but am size 12. I don't know what the guy was referring to as too small - he didn't say what size his shoes are. I suppose if you are riding with hiking shoes, any clips may be too small.

So, what do you think? Should I go with the EVO, or try something else? I don't really want to buy the complete pedal, since mine are fine.

Thanks

FW

I've had good luck with the Wellgo clips REI sells for five bucks, but you need to ensure they will fit your pedals:

Don't get clips. They're hard to get into, and hard to get out of in a hurry. Either go clipless or go pinned platform + bike-specific shoe with sticky rubber. They're worth the investment, and will be light years better (and safer) than baskets and running shoes.
