Is Sram better that Shimano? I bought SRAM x.o shifters & x.9 der. good or bad? Does x.o compare to XTR? X.9 to XT?

Sram rocks, Shimano is trying to monopolize the market, down with shimano.

I love SRAM stuff. Its so much cheaper than shimano and no better. I have the x.7 derailleur +shifters. You can get a set of shifters+derailleurs for 85. Try that with XT stuff. ANd its super smooth, ive never had better quality shifting. I dont like the dual control stuff either, i try to stay away from shimano.

Oh and that X.0 compares to XTR and x.9 to XT is what the market would love you to believe. Its not true, if im not mistaken there is no performance difference between x.7 and x.9 I thinkt he shifters have a 2gram difference.

WHy does it need to compare to something? X.7 is not even Srams "top of the line" and it shifts flawlessly, i could not imagine it any better. X.9 or other stuff would probably be only lighter

The comparisons you listed are apt. The new SRAM triggers are going to be even better. Slight improvements in the ergonomics department that make quite a difference, really.

Just a question, WHY did you start a new thread on this, it has been explained so many times it is not funny. There is a tool on these forums called search, try it.
Here is a page with the the threads already started about SRAM and Shimano, they have some good info in them, I would recommend reading some of them if you want to and some of them have the level comparisons.

I don't get it, Raiyn... how do you search again? That explanation is a bit too technical for me.

Hilarious, Raiyn. I just got done reading a thread where you ripped on a guy for bringing an old thread back to life. Now you're giving somebody heck for not doing a search through the older threads. That's sweet. Belligerent little Gary Coleman would be proud.
Seriously, though... do you know Hasselhoff?

What the search function is for is so that you can go back and read about the topic, if you still have questions post a question in the old thread, don't write an answer to a question in the old thread.

Raiyn,
but then the users who hate repeated posts would flip more than the people who hate old threads. Its an odd line to walk. Besides I am 90% sure there is in fact a purge point that gets eliminated (maybe not on this board actually)

I can't ask about it with a reply in that thread because I'll be lynched for bringing an old thread back to life. And I can't start a new thread because the topic has alreay been covered enough to warrant the classic "Use the Search Button" reply. Danged if I do, danged if I don't.
When you or anyone else comes across a post that you'd rather answer, wouldn't it make more sense to just not answer it, instead of wasting the time involved in coming up with and typing out a snide remark? True, your illustration was funny, but it probably made the person you directed it to feel like crap. And nobody likes to feel like crap (I know that, because I did a Search on "feeling crappy").

Both SRAM and Shimano make good stuff. IMO, there are two clear advantages to SRAM. 1. Stronger spring in the rear der. works better in mud. 2. Power link chain allows easier chain maintenance.... both important here in Indiana where we have lots of opportunity to ride in muddy conditions.
I prefer trigger shifts so I was quite happy when SRAM came out with the X series of trigger shifts. For some reason the knuckle on my thumbs rub the collar on the grip shift and even biking gloves give me blisters. None of my buds have this problem. I like the simplicity of the grip shifts though. Am I the only one in the world who bangs up thumb knuckles on the grip shifts?
